Best Ab Exercises

The best abdominal exercises are the ones that help develop core strength. Doing sit-ups and crunches will only take you so far, but if you looking for good overall core muscle strength you’ll need to do more. Sit-ups work only the rectus (the six-pack). The exercises in this newsletter will help tone the whole abdominal area including lower back. Why do you need to go further? Core muscles include the corset muscles (transverses and oblique abs), your diaphragm, your pelvic floor and lower back muscle. The pelvic floor muscles are literally the foundation of the core and need special attention. See Pelvic Floor Exercise at at this link. Having strong core muscles has great benefits which include:
  • Improved balance.
  • Good posture.
  • Stronger back muscles to stabilise and support the spine.

    The Best Stretch



    An easy extremely effective abdominal stretch can be enjoyed on a pilates ball. It's also the best stress buster in the business. No instructions needed, just copy the pic. It feels so good......



    Abs Hundreds Exercise



    On the mat in this position. Lift both shoulder blades off the floor and pump arms up and down. Start with 10 repeitions and work up to 100 - that's how the exercises got it's name.

    In this issue of Health, actress Hilary Duff talk about feeling more confident and finding the perfect balance in her life. This includes pilates 3 times a week. She was quoted as saying "I was a gymnast when I was little, so I think Pilates is really important to helping me stay long and lean. I try to do it three times a week. I also do circuit training. Before I wasn't doing much cardio — just Pilates — and I wasn't getting the same results, so I bumped up my cardio and do circuits probably twice a week."
